St Patrick's day re-cap

Yesterday we wore green, had green Choc chip pancakes with for breakfast, and made rainbow cupcakes with whipped cream frosting.

Tonight Cory taught us about the symbolism behind the shamrock and Harrison did a scavenger hunt for a cupcake treat. Bam. I'm happy I can slide by with minimal planning and Harrison is as thrilled as he would be if the hunt had seventeen steps and involved finding a real rainbow and home made chocolate gold deblooms

:) ps- that picture that might leave you wondering is Harrison licking whipped cream off the floor after he dropped his cupcake on it. I'd consider that too, bud. And yes I did stop him and clean up the mess. After I took a picture.

For some reason I find this hilarious

This is a text conversation I just had with Cory. I'm at work and I asked him
To start a loaf of bread in the bread maker to go with the dinner we are making for the missionaries tonight. Apparently the concept of a bread maker is a little mind boggling :)

C: Srsrly tho. How do I make bread in the bread maker?

A: Sorry- all recipes-
Look up white bread and use the one with like 400 plus reviews
It's super easy

C:"Traditional white bread"?

A: Sure

C: So just mix it up then put it in the machine at the kneading part?

A: Put the ingredients in. Turn machine on , select white then light then press start.
The machine will do everything

C: I need to get it to a dough first though don't I?

A: No
Just put it in the thing and press it down until it clicks. It's really easy

C: Srsly? No mixing of any kind?

A: No it does it for you -turn it on make your selections and go. It's a bread maker.

C: Where's yeast?

A: In the fridge

C: Ok. Well see if you're right...

My husband is awesome. I wonder if I should pick up some rolls on the way home???

Flashback Tuesday

Carter is sporting my overalls today. A'la 1982. Pretty cute if you ask me.

Independent play

Tuesday/Thursday nights lately Cory has been teaching a JavaScript course in Georgetown (not at Georgetown, but in the general area :)). Anywhoo, this puts me alone with my darling offspring all night long. Tuesday it's a particularly long day because I work from home. Last Tuesday I decided I would do something fun and crafty during the 'witching hour' before dinner. My sanity after a long day watching kids/ getting 8 hrs of work done depended on it. So I made hair bows and let the kids wreak havoc. At one point Harrison wrapped a transformer in thread and was dragging him around the house with carter following close behind. When Cory asks me how I get things done with kids around I always tell him I just do what I have to do. They want constant attention but I think it's good for mommy to take a more 'supervisory ' role once in awhile. And the bows are cute. Not that my daughter will wear them but at least I could pretend I have a hobby... For an hour anyway :)
