(don't you love how I took a picture of myself in the bathroom mirror at work on Saturday afternoon...this is what happens when I'm working overtime practically all alone :) )

Fireworks and Trains
So....we have been doing stuff I promise. First it was fourth of July and we took Harrison to see some fireworks at a local high school. He was SO excited waiting for the fireworks to start (sorry it's blurry cuz I'm not sure how to work the flash on my camera phone).
Anyway. We found a spot REALLY close to where they were shooting the fireworks off..so cool, right? Wrong. Harrison didn't 'freak out' but definitely did not like the loud noise and how close we were (plus all that ash falling on us). We strapped him in the stroller and headed away quickly. We got to our car by the end of the show and that distance was just about perfect :) Luckily, if you ask Harrison he has a positive memory of our fourth of july fireworks and will insist that the fireworks are loud but that "Harrison not scared anymore.."
Then we went to the B&O Railroad museum in Baltimore with Heidi and fam and Harrison's bff alesa june. I was SO happy to seek this kid play area :)
We put Harrison and Alesa in matching monkey leashes...SO CUTE
Alesa and I took a little break to run around the train area--amazingly she STOPS when I tell her too (props to Erin :))
Alesa dressed up as the train chef
Harrison has high hopes for a future as crossing guard
Waiting to ride on the BIG train
Harrison showing off the wrong side of his train ticket :)
Afterwards we let the kids go on the little blue train outside
And then some time on the playground--seriously gotta love places that are SO toddler friendly
Another train ride--seriously these kids LUCKED OUT :)
Thanks heidi for letting us tag along and thanks erin and dru for letting us steal your child for the day :)

Mt Vernon take 2
Saturday we met up with the Millers at Mt Vernon. It was a fun time. We watched Bekah and Alex so that Heidi and Joseph could tour George Washington's house without having to wrangle toddlers--for some reason 2 year olds don't understand that you can't go under the ropes and run up and down the stairs in a 300 year old house or whatever..so weird.
Funny--I have a similar picture to this from the last time we went in November...Harrison is smaller and his hat is fuzzier :)
Most of the walk in Harrison was actually pushing the stroller. A volunteer asked him where his baby was and he said in his tummy...that's where he thinks baby sister is most of the time.
Heidi's kids know how to say "cheese"...Harrison is trying to figure out what is inside his hat...
Seriously the view from the back of the house is one of my favorites
OOH ROCKS!! I'm sure we can get in trouble with these!!!
On Saturday evening we finally filled up the play pool we got from our neighbor..Harrison LOVED it... He practiced "swimming" (on his hands) around and around...I hope he's ready to start swimming lessons on Monday!!!
Monday morning there was a parade after our ward pancake breakfast. Harrison was sad to not have a scooter or bike to not ride in it but then pretty satisfied when I just let him run around in circles :)
Lauren is in our primary class and LOVES Harrison..they were running around saying "YAY AMERICA!!"
"Mommy--don't you even TRY to catch me!!"
On an unrelated note--I used the dill from our garden to make pickles last week. For anyone who knows me at all well this was a BIG sacrifice to buy and cut up cucumbers...hopefully in a few days I will be rewarded :)
Harrison helped by washing the cucumbers
YUM!!! (fingers crossed)
