I just LOVE this kid!!!
Tonight we went out to dinner and Harrison was super sleepy from being schlepped around by me all afternoon and never getting a proper nap. He slept the whole time and was just so adorable I had to take some pictures! Being a mom is AMAZING and it gets better every day! When I think about how I never really asked for a baby but am SO blessed to have one, I wonder what I was thinking?? It's hard, but the utter awesomeness of it all and how you can just love one little person SO much is beyond description!!! Harrison is so alert now and is grabbing everything and smiling every time he looks at me and is more and more in to playing with toys and watching everything around him. LOVE IT!!!

husband tag
I know these things are kind of lame but I get pretty amused by them..besides Kelly tagged me! :)
1. He's sitting in front of the TV, what is on the screen? Star Wars, Star Trek, or Lord of the Rings ALWAYS--Ok not ACTUALLY but I like to pretend he's that much of a nerd..umm..probably Fox News, the discovery or science channel, maybe Fringe
2. You're out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad? balsamic vinegarette or something like that
3. What's one food he doesn't like? sauces-he doesn't really like sauces on stuff
4. You go out to eat and have a drink. His drink would be? Please. He loves Dr. Pepper almost as much as I love Diet Coke.
5. Where did he go to high school? Altus High School in Altus, Oklahoma (yeah..he raised a pig named bacon for a class..)
6. What size shoe does he wear? 11... I think pretty much everyone's husband wears 11
7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?broken dvd players we have all over our house he says he's going to fix? i phone apps?
8. What is his favorite type of sandwich? probably grilled cheese with some kind of meat on it or something from Spicy Pickle (YUM)
9. What would he eat every day if he could? apparently fried rice with hot dogs...
10. What is his favorite cereal? TOTALLY Cracklin Oat Bran-when my brother lived with us he hid it from him....
11. What would he never wear? a popped collar
12. What is his favorite sports team? He really doesn't like sports-to play maybe but not to watch
13. Who did he vote for? It's funny that everyone I've seen whose done this post hasn't actually said---Cory voted for McCain-not that he likes him that much but it was the lesser of the two evils (he claims to now understand why people "throw away" their votes on third party candidates..)
14. Who is his best friend? Todd--I don't know what we're going to do when Todd and Emily move to Detroit :(
15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn't do? Force him to go to the gym, fight him on every opinion he has on a political issue just because I can?
16. What is his Heritage? I imagine lots of Europe but he likes to pretend its Scottish
17. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake? He doesn't want a cake he wants one of those huge cookies
18. Did he play sports in high school? Soccer
19. What could he spend hours doing? playing on his phone, doing crossword puzzles
20. What is one thing you appreciate about him? he's super smart and LOVES to learn
and for kicks here's a picture
Yesterday I rented a carpet cleaning machine and Harrison cried while I tried to use it. I bundled him up and gave him his binky and put him on the floor while I tried to get the high traffic areas upstairs. Here he is all tuckered out after all that crying

Law School Graduation and Chihuly at the Phoenix Botanical Garden
We've had a fun weekend!!! Here are some pictures!!

you know you've been waiting for this post
OBAMA!!!
(and graduation)
Yes I was there, I saw the man himself. Law students got really awesome seats almost in the front behind Phd. students. And after all the hype the standing in the sun waiting to go through security really wasn't that bad. And Obama wasn't that bad. I enjoyed his speech. I felt properly propelled to go out there and fulfill my greater mission and keep learning and not be focused on superficial things. I also was very impressed with Obama for shaking the hands of EACH and every doctoral candidate and even giving hugs to people who wanted hugs--he even signed some girls sash (by the by, I heard a rumor that apparently ASU used to read law students names and have them walk across the stage as well but one year a bunch of awesome law students decided to get a keg and be drunk as they walked across the stage..so they decided to stop reading their names..basically I could have shaken the president's hand if law students weren't losers and I didn't go to the country's biggest party school.... ) There will be more pics later of the law school commencement that is tomorrow...yesterday was mostly about Obama..and Alice Cooper who was a "surprise musical guest"-- who knew you had rock bands at graduation-sure different from BYU :)
First, here's the speech

and some pictures
the stadium from the field
The stage and podium before they put the presidential seal on it
air force one flying in
me in my cool velvet hat
me and Paul and Seth--apparently Seth and I don't know how to keep our hoods on...
with Sparky, the ASU mascot
and all my Obama pics came out pretty fuzzy but at least you can see how close I was (this was taken with a zoom but still...)
A better view from the screen
Since he is Commander in Chief Obama commissioned all the military officers as part of the ceremony which I thought was pretty cool

Brownies, running, and a walmart bathroom
I constantly seem to think of things to blog about. I have a running blog in my head that is eloquent and witty and somehow also inspirational. As time goes on the blogging doesn't happen and you get "catch up" blogs like this one. Here's what's up with us lately.
1. I finished school!! FOREVER!! Yay!! after three long years that at many points I thought would be impossible to get through I finished law school last week and will graduate tomorrow with the law school graduation on Friday. Even though it may have cost more money and more effort than it will prove to be worth (only time will tell), I'm proud of my accomplishment all the same.
2. We had a GREAT Mother's Day. I'm so grateful for a wonderful mother who is the most generous person I know and is constantly adjusting her schedule to watch Harrison for me so I can go to class or a meeting or take a final etc etc etc. We had my mom and Larry and Aaron and Stephanie over for dinner on Sunday and it was wonderful to spend time together as a family despite my lack of clean silverware or matching plates...(and the fact that I always want to take naps after church and never seem to have things ready when we have Sunday dinner guests). I'm also grateful for an amazing husband who went out of his way to make my first "official" mother's day special. Cory had some Fairytale brownies sent to me--I had tried them when I bought some as a gift for a women in the law function and had been raving and he remembered. AND he bought a little fondue pot and we had fondue (including the brownies) for breakfast. YUM!!!
3. Speaking of my awesome mom I was at Walmart last Friday to buy her a spider plant and somehow left my iphone in the bathroom....I realized what I had done about five minutes later but the phone was gone (and despite my thought that people who use family restrooms want to do the right thing, nobody turned it in..). Luckily my amazing mother offered to buy me another one (that I know I don't deserve--I mean, I lost it, I should have to pay!!!) as a mother's day/graduation present. I'm so addicted to that thing!! If it wasn't for my mom I'd definitely be hating life sans iphone right now...
4. Running!!! Lisa and Nick signed up to run the St George Marathon and on a whim of craziness (induced by cafe rio I suppose) Jen and I decided we would sign up too...We found out yesterday we didn't get chosen in the lottery but have decided to run the Top of Utah Half Marathon on August 29th instead. AND because it's "just" (yeah right..still 13 miles...) a half our spouses agreed to run too!! YAY! I ran a half marathon in Philadelphia about four years ago and haven't run all that much since..so it's gonna take a lot of work but I know it will be totally worth it. And prepare us for St. George next year, right cory???
5. A JOB!! (ok, sort of). I got a job working for a tax professor at the law school writing the content for an online game about taxation ( I KNOW!! SO FUN, RIGHT?? I'm not kidding, I'm seriously excited!!!). It's a summer job and the hours are pretty sparse until the bar, with a little more during August, and some "mentor" work with the game design students who will actually make the game work during the first half of the fall semester. So, even though I get new rejection letters from federal agencies what feels like daily, at least I have something (oh yeah and it's totally from home and I can work on the stuff whenever I want) for now and once I take the bar and have more of an idea of what I'm willing to take in terms of work I can start looking more seriously for the perfect job that will take us away from this awful hot weather....
6. There is probably more but that is enough for now....Oh yeah, and one of my oldest and best friends ever, who takes BEAUTIFUL pictures, was in town and rearranged her schedule to take some pics of Harrison. Here are a few, more can be found on her blog. Thanks Angela!!

Some pics-from Harrison
its cool to have spit up stains on your clothes in EVERY picture
I'm so freaking cute-what can I say?
Mommy and Daddy are Silly
We went to the park for a picnic/birthday part with some friends and I was forced into this lame stroller with Kimball who apparently LIKES strollers-so weird
Our friend Emily gave me this cool soccer outfit but it also comes with a hat that is constantly forced on my head. If I wasn't sleeping I'd definitely be whining about this hat
Daddy teaching me the piano
yes I spit up..and it's hot
