The playground

We go a lot to a favorite playground in our townhouse community because Harrison wants to see "his friends." Big kids (like age 8+) he LOVES to play with.  And they love playing with him too, although perhaps more in a baby brother way. Sometimes they play innocuous games appropriate for a three year old (simon says anyone?) and other times they are in the middle of a rousing game of football or kickball and he immediately jumps right in.  I hate it. They are rough kids, they use bigger kid language, and he basically chases them around with occasional "real" involvement. I stress that he will a) hurt himself or b) they will stop being nice sweet kids and tell the 3 year old to scram.  He looks so tiny over there. Why can't he just play with the 3 year olds? But then I get over it.  After all Harrison is definitely cool enough to hang with the big kids and he can handle it.  So I try to let go of my mommy control issues and focus on Carter. Who is likely getting into trouble.
