why didn't I think of this before??
So...for awhile I've wanted an herb garden. I tried growing some herbs from seeds-twice. And both times I failed. Either I'm no good at growing stuff or AZ is just too FREAKING hot (did you know we've hit 100 already..several times..). I'd love one of those nifty aero gardens but there is NO way cory is letting me spend the over $100 that would cost-yeah right :) Anyway, today I picked up a couple of herbs at target in pots-already growing. I put them in the little hanging thing over our kitchen window. Basil and Cilantro-herbs I use a LOT. They were $1.99 apiece. Even just using what is on the plants (like if they die tomorrow) this is cheaper then buying herbs in the grocery store (for the basil at least)...DUH!!!
OH YEAH and this is my new favorite enchilada recipe. I made it last Sunday. YUM

Obama's First 100 Days-three articles
Different perspectives on Obama's first 100 days. In the interest of bi-partisanship, I'm putting the more pro Obama one first.

Friday evening hike
Last Friday I convinced Cory that the three of us should go hiking at South Mountain. It was actually Harrison's second hike but the first one (me and Jen at Squaw Peak) did not provide opportunity for picture taking..(I tripped over my two massive feet and fell towards the end and it freaked Harrison out a bit). This time he LOVED bouncing along with daddy in the baby bjorn.
Ready to go!
Harrison also loved to have the chance to spit up on the side of his carrier and then lick it..YUMMY!!!
pathetic attempt at a family shot-we ran into my mom on the way down and she took a picture of us on my real camera..maybe I'll post that one later...
staring up at daddy
Arizona does have it pretty spots :)
and this one is totally unrleated and I know has crappy shadows but Harrison was sleeping and making an angry face---he sure knows how to amuse his mommy!!!

Easter Fun
For Easter we went over to Russ and Jen's to dye eggs--which was really fun because it's definitely been a few years for me. We also went out to Easter Breakfast with my mom and Larry and Aaron and Stephanie. Although I don't have any pics of Harrison in a cute easter outfit it was good times all around :)
The finished products! Gone are the days when egg dyeing kits include shrink wrap easter scenes and a wax crayon. This kit had feathers, foil, and beads which of course we HAD to use
I made Harrison an egg with his name on it--he appreciates it..you can tell!!
Kerri was concentrating really hard to come up with good egg dyeing ideas
The chick was trying to escape from Lisa's egg
Cory and Harrison with the one egg I got Cory to dye. It's yellow and has a baby drawn on it. Very creative honey!
The fam at Easter breakfast. We went to Mimi's which is one of Cory and I's favorite places (despite the fact that the majority of people that go there are over 50...). My mom and Stephanie both ordered al a carte pancakes and ate ONE. This is why they are skinny. Skinny people are definitely outside of my realm of understanding.
Harrison-bug and mommy. Harrison was so good. He chilled out in his carseat and then came out to impress everyone with his mad hand sucking skills.

Ok I lied
Since I'm on a roll --here is the latest Harrison development. In the hour or so between when he is fed and angry because he's hungry again all we get is talk talk talk.
I'm sure you're getting sick of me but I can't help it
Ok this is the last one for today
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30238492/
I have spent far too much time listening to people in my classes complain about the Bush Administration's "flagrant disregard for civil liberties" and how they "illegally" wiretapped law abiding Americans (have you seen the Simpsons movie with the room full of people listening to phone calls??)...When I saw this article about how after three months of Obama the NSA has far exceeded limits on wiretapps set by Congress I just had to laugh. Oh sure when Obama does it it's on accident and they actually aren't reading the emails and phone calls, just getting access to them...
And if you're annoyed at my neverending barrage of right wing propaganda and want to report me as a domestic terrorist just take a look at this face and I'm sure you'll feel better :)
Harrison is asking you to please not send his mommy to prison because she prefers state and local to federal government and has considered voting for a third party candidate...

can I buy binkies by the case?
Harrison LOVES his pacifier...well maybe he doesn't but I think he does because it's often the icing on the cake needed to keep him from crying and freaking out (in addition to blankets, bouncy chairs, being held, Leonard, little orange lion that vibrates, blue puppy, etc..). Recently he's got more specific about what kind of binkies he'll take. The soothie ones he used to love are too small, the 6 month ones I bought in a rebellious moment because they attach to the binkie holder thing are too big. He likes the middle sized ones and we've bought at least six of these.....and yet in a freak out moment (like the one I had ten minutes ago)I'm scrambling around for the ONE we've got left--WHERE ARE THE BINKIES?? all under my couch? under tbe bed? who knows...
just a thought for the day
PS-I think this is awesome -cory is currently using his lunch break to check out the one in Gilbert...I'd be there too but I was a little nervous about taking the kid to a protest before he hit six months--soon he'll be old enough to join in all the fun!!!

PPS-I was watching CNN for a few minutes this morning and while the news coverage is techincally ok they really ARE biased. Sometimes I make fun of Cory because he immediately flips on fox news and complains about the liberal media etc...but post obama tax speech they had nothing but glowing things to say about our president and his awesome tax policy. Yeah...the president is furthering his campaign goal of helping the working people, blah blah blah..nothing about how obama is WRONG when he rejects any semblance of a trickle down theory. No question of how many people who don't PAY any taxes benefit under his policy. Nothing about how maybe the most progressive tax ever isn't a good thing to get the economy going. Obama is just wonderful and that is just the way it is--why should the media even QUESTION our leaders at all right??? Might as well call it Obama vision.
PPPS-I think this is becoming my favorite baby outfit..you may not be able to tell but it's got a plaid colar so why it's comfy it's also appropriate for daytime wear..and is sort of like a little baby leisure suit. Plus it's winnie the pooh, who doesn't love that.
PPPPS (last one I promise)- Just wanted to give a shout out to cory for getting me these beautiful flowers a week and a half ago because he thought I had a hard day (did I mention they came with a case of diet coke). I have the most thoughtful husband ever. The flowers were pretty at first, pretty a week later, and even now they still look good. YAY CORY!!

Harrison learns about voir dire
sliding by....
I took the MPRE (ethics test you have to pass before you can practice law) awhile ago while my in-laws were in town (thankfully because otherwise I would not have studied AT ALL) and yesterday I got the email telling me my score report was ready. Cory was home for lunch and wanted to watch me open it but of course I wouldn't let him for fear of him seeing a huge YOU FAIL in red letters or something when I opened the pdf (did I mention that he opened the letter I got rejecting me for the Seattle job before me and then SEALED IT BACK UP...whatev dude..) I opened it up to reveal that I got a scaled score of 86--a google search confirmed that AZ requires a scaled score of 85--So I passed-YAY!! But BARELY!!! This just serves to remind me that I am the biggest slacker ever with respect to law school--I mean the most you could get was 150 so I got barely more than HALF! It was a pretty tough test (for multiple choice anyway) but SHEESH!!! People I know who I tend to consider less "smart" than me (and who are 2Ls) did way better. The amount of time I spend on school these days is just so sad sometimes I think I really don't even deserve a job (then of course I talk to some other law student who somehow slacks off more than me and I feel a little better about myself) ...Let this just serve as a post-it in my head saying: AMBER YOU MUST DO BETTER ON THE BAR EXAM!! YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SLIDE BY COME JULY 29!!!
